Homemade Valentine’s treats are a fun and meaningful way to celebrate the holiday. In this class, we demonstrated Brigadeiros Recipe (Brazilian Chocolate Truffles).

Brigadeiros Recipe (Brazilian Chocolate Truffles)

Ingredients (Makes ~20)

1 can (14 oz) sweetened condensed milk
2 tablespoons unsweetened cocoa powder
1 tablespoon unsalted butter (plus extra for greasing hands)
Pinch of salt
Chocolate sprinkles (or shredded coconut, crushed nuts, etc., for rolling)

Instructions

Cook the Mixture:
In a medium saucepan, combine the sweetened condensed milk, cocoa powder, butter, and salt.
Cook over medium-low heat, stirring constantly with a wooden spoon or silicone spatula to prevent sticking.
Continue cooking for about 10–15 minutes, or until the mixture thickens and pulls away from the sides and bottom of the pan (it should look like a thick fudge).
Cool:
Remove from heat and transfer the mixture to a greased plate or bowl. Let it cool completely to room temperature (about 1 hour).
Shape the Brigadeiros:
Grease your hands lightly with butter. Scoop out small portions of the mixture (about 1 tablespoon each) and roll them into smooth balls.
Coat:
Roll each ball in chocolate sprinkles or your preferred coating until evenly covered.
Serve or Store:
Place the brigadeiros in mini paper cups for presentation.
Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days or in the refrigerator for up to a week.
